In the Microsoft IT Academy Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher course you will use the Microsoft Office 2010 Suite to learn all aspects of Word, PowerPoint and Publisher.  We will concentrate on the use of the ribbons in the three applications to create, enhance, and customize documents relevant to teenagers and their interests.  Upon the completion of the Word and PowerPoint units students will sit for the nationally acclaimed Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Exam.  Students that obtain this certification are considered to be highly skilled and proficient in the areas tested.

Ms. Collins is a CMS graduate of Independence high school and seven time state champion in track and field. After graduated went to the University of Georgia on a full track and field scholarship and graduated with Honors with an MBA from American InterContinental University. This will be Ms. Collins second year teaching the CTE business curriculum and 4th year in the CMS school district. In addition to teacher Ms. Collins is also the Harding RAMS, Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach. Ms. Collins will always look for the best in her students and will always push each student to see themselves beyond their current place in their mind and circumstances.

The CTE Microsoft Academy gives high school students, the chance to get a head start on preparing for college and careers. It provides the opportunity to participate in hands-on training that integrates rigorous academics with relevant career and technical skills, as well as, work place attitudes and behaviors.
